The cuff I worked on last week – a raven’s feather for the Yukon. I did the background in a faded shade of purple. My preference would have been a brown background and brass snaps, but I [...] After hammering out my first cuff of the Canadianarama Collection, designs took a turn for the freeform. I started cutting the bracelets to follow the shape of the flower instead of cutting the leather and then jamming the flower into the window created by the cuff. Yesterday I started on a new fireweed cuff – [...] The first in my Canadiana-rama collection. Featuring the territorial flower of Yukon – fireweed. This stuff crops up like crazy, following wherever fire has cut back the trees. You’ll find it in a lot of places far more southern than Yukon, but the first I saw it was up north where I had honey [...] My Grayling cuff found a home! This doesn’t happen often, but I just couldn’t sell him after all that… When I was up in Ivvavik this summer I spent quite a bit of time fishing and fell totally in love with it. This may be because I was spoiled by gorgeous scenery the likes of which I will never find fishing any other river on Earth, but it also had something to do with [...] Whew, it took me all day! The actual number of hours I spent on it will not be reflected in the price because a lot of the roundabout ways I came at finishing things off were due to my own ridiculous mistakes. A border of wild whorls and eddies. A scattering of smooth stones. The Firth River Rock Purse. Waiting for tooling, hand-painting, sweet caramel stain and a strap. [...] Some new pieces tooled and stained, painted and protected. I still have to finish the edges and backs of these (and a couple not pictured still need to be painted), and attach them to their various earring hooks, necklace chains and headbands, but not a bad haul for the first day back.
