Yesterday I ran a moccasin-making workshop at Needlework. The long weekend meant it was small, but that was nice. Just three makers, plus Kate. We traced… We cut… We broke for cupcakes… And we had great success! Everone’s shoes looked so good at the end! Very professional. I sort of [...] Yesterday I went shopping with Liz of Needlework fame. We were picking up hides for my moccasin-making workshop this Sunday. That’s right! Remember these guys? You can learn to make your very own! Well…not this week. The class is full. But they invested in some good leather tools so I imagine there will be more [...] I was working on these for the CSCL Annual and then to sell in the shop, but I was using a new pattern that turned out to be missing a bunch of instructions so there were some fairly large mistakes in the making. Of course, the default in this situation is that I keep them [...] Working through my boots. Today was meant to be devoted to painting, but I finished that much faster than I thought I would so I’ve mostly been staring at the pattern for putting this all together and getting confused. Let’s focus on what I know – stitching the leaves on to the sides of the [...] …in my moccasins. Or not. You could always slip them on, kick your feet up and snug under a blanket with a book and a cup of coffee instead. Truth be told, that’s what they’re best at – being your indoor slippers/backyard booties/cottage kicks/random relaxation footwear. Taking breaks to eat mini chocolate bars and get psyched that I’m going to see this tonight. I have a good reason for not posting yesterday – I was busy making these bad boys… I started by cutting size 9 patterns into a beautiful cut of tough-as-nails moosehide.
