Hamilton’s music scene has suffered a bit since the Pepper Jack closed a few years ago. I love what comes through the Casbah and This Ain’t Hollywood, but there’s nothing like what PJC was.
I feel like I used to see music three or four nights a week because there was always something on and they had the sweetest patio in the city. It didn’t matter if you didn’t recognize the band playing – it was pretty much guaranteed to be good. You could go sit around with a pint on a Tuesday night and discover someone new and incredible for only $5, but you could also find huge bands including much goodness from Daptone.
Oh, how it felt like the old days last night when Lee Fields played at Hollywood! My oh my…what an evening. And to think I wasn’t originally feeling a Sunday night show. Sooooooo glad I stuck with it.
